Thu, 18 Apr
|MASTERCLASS
Ageism is prevalent in our society. It is present in workplaces, in healthcare and in our everyday lives. Especially in our older years ageism can limit our thinking on what is possible, what is achieveable and stop us from living the way we choose.

About the event
FACILITATOR - Leonie Sanderson
Living and working on Ngaro lands (Whitsundays), I acknowledge the traditional custodians of the lands and pay my deepest respects to elders past, present and emerging.
Born in 1967 in a small town in North Queensland in the middle of a flood, my life has focused on finding innovative ways to improve equity and well-being.
My formal expertise in Psychology and Communications spans health, technology, design and the arts. My special interest areas are ageing across the lifespan, women and young people, mental health, co-design and people-centred technology.
From my first charity fundraising efforts as a primary school student to my work in women's health and ageing, I aim to be a catalyst for the people around me, helping to share stories and experiences for innovative and transformative solutions.
I co-founded The Ageing Revolution to shift social systems about ageing, particularly to challenge ageism.
I'm now 57, have lived in Taiwan, the United States and Australia, love vintage clothing and second-hand shopping, and am a chocolate and coffee enthusiast! I think those things helped me get through the tough times of perimenopause.
