This presentation will provide practical advice about the importance of physical activity for promoting health and well-being and preventing falls in older age. It will provide examples of effective programs, tips on how to promote lasting behaviour change, and resources, programs, and services that can support people's efforts to be more active.
MEET OUR PRESENTERS
Professor Anne Tiedemann
Anne Tiedemann is a Professor of Physical Activity and Health at the Institute for Musculoskeletal Health, Faculty of Medicine and Health, University of Sydney. Her research explores the design and evaluation of low-cost, sustainable strategies for preventing falls and increasing physical activity for people aged 50 years and over.
Anne is passionate about spreading the word about the wonders of physical activity in boosting physical and mental health and well-being. She has published more than 160 peer-reviewed papers on this topic and contributed to national and international physical activity and fall prevention guidelines.
Betty Ramsay
Betty has been a physiotherapist for more than 30 years, and for the last 10 years she has worked as a research physio and health coach at The University of Sydney. She has years of experience coaching people who are living with life stresses including caring roles, work demands, pain, chronic illness, depression, and anxiety. Betty is keen to empower others to become more physically active in ways that work for them and that are sustainable. Betty brings warmth, empathy, humour and a Scottish accent to her work.
