About the event
Join women from the Silver Sirens community on this journey of self-discovery and rejuvenation as we explore what it means to love your ageing self.
Loving your ageing self is an important aspect of personal growth and well-being. It’s about acknowledging and accepting the changes we’re experiencing on the physical emotional and spiritual.
It’s about understanding the tools and resources we need to maximize our remaining years, it’s about loving and nurturing our full potential.
It’s about letting go of the regrets of the past and moving forward with hope and purpose.
It’s about valuing and being intentional about our remaining years.
In this session, we will be exploring Pillar 4 - Prioritising Self-Care:.
Pillars of Loving Your Ageing Self
1. Embracing Change: Aging is a natural part of life, and it brings about changes in our physical appearance, abilities, and priorities. Loving your aging self means accepting and embracing these changes as a part of your unique journey.
2. Self-Acceptance: Loving your ageing self involves accepting yourself as you are, including any perceived flaws or imperfections. It means recognising that your worth is not solely based on external appearances or societal expectations, but rather on your inherent value as a human being.
3. Celebrating Wisdom and Experience: With age comes wisdom and a wealth of life experiences. Loving your aging self means recognising and celebrating the knowledge and insights you have gained over the years. Your experiences have shaped you into the person you are today, and they deserve to be acknowledged and valued.
4. Prioritising Self-Care: As you age, it becomes increasingly important to prioritise self-care and well-being. Loving your aging self means taking care of your physical, mental, and emotional health. This may involve adopting healthy lifestyle habits, seeking support when needed, and engaging in activities that bring you joy and fulfillment.
5. Embracing Inner Beauty: While external appearances may change with age, inner beauty remains constant. Loving your aging self means recognizing and appreciating the beauty that radiates from within – your kindness, compassion, resilience, and other positive qualities that make you who you are.
6. Cultivating Positive Mindset: Loving your aging self involves cultivating a positive mindset and reframing any negative thoughts or beliefs about aging. Instead of focusing on limitations or regrets, shift your perspective to focus on the opportunities and possibilities that come with age.
7. Surrounding Yourself with Positive Influences: Surrounding yourself with positive influences, such as supportive friends, family, or communities, can greatly contribute to loving your aging self. Seek out relationships and environments that uplift and inspire you, and distance yourself from negativity or judgment.
8. Embracing Self-Expression: Loving your aging self means embracing self-expression and staying true to your authentic self. This may involve pursuing hobbies, interests, or creative outlets that bring you joy and allow you to express your unique identity.
9. Practicing Gratitude: Cultivating a sense of gratitude for the present moment and the experiences that have shaped you can greatly contribute to loving your aging self. Take time to reflect on the blessings in your life and appreciate the journey you have been on.
10. Embracing Ageing as a Privilege: Finally, loving your aging self involves recognizing that aging is a privilege denied to many. Embrace each day as an opportunity to live fully and authentically, appreciating the gift of life and the wisdom that comes with age.
Loving your ageing self is a lifelong journey that requires self-compassion, patience, and a commitment to personal growth.
Embrace the process and celebrate the unique beauty and wisdom that comes with each passing year.
