About the event

For one powerful day, our Silver Sirens leaders will explore the pillars of enhanced living through the lens of the following topics.

● EMPTY NEST

In the past, research suggested that parents dealing with empty nest syndrome experienced a profound sense of loss that might make them vulnerable to depression, alcoholism, identity crisis and marital conflicts.

However, recent studies suggest that an empty nest might reduce work and family conflicts, and can provide parents with many other benefits.

When the last child leaves home, parents have a new opportunity to reconnect with each other, improve the quality of their marriage and rekindle interests for which they previously might not have had time.

SILVER SIREN MEETS SILVER FOX  There's no question that men and women age differently. Obviously, genetics, lifestyle, nutrition, and environment affect how people of either gender age, but the rate and way that men and women age is completely different.

Not only do the male and female bodies respond differently to aging, but the male and female psychology also differs greatly. Taken together, ageing for men and women can be an entirely different experience.

We will also explore the popular narrative that ageing is easier for men?

● SEXUALITY BEYOND 50

Sex after 50 can get a bad rap, after all, menopause changes many women's bodies in less than pleasant ways.

But there is good news! Many women agree that going through menopause was a positive turning point in their sexuality That’s not to say that age doesn’t bring some challenges to the bedroom, but it’s certainly no reason to halt bedroom fun. From keeping it steamy in the boudoir to the truth about how age affects our libidos (yes, you can still orgasm post-menopause!), our experts will share the latest findings on what sex is really like after turning 5o.

● OUR ELDERS ARE TREASURES - MASTERING GRIEF

Older adults are likely to encounter the loss of a loved one more often than other age groups. Acute grief normally evolves over time into integrated grief but for some, grief may be prolonged, severe and impairing. With women living longer than men in most cases, our elders have traversed the landscape of grief and many of come to master this often feared terrain.

Our speakers will share their experience of life beyond the loss of a spouse and other family members and how they navigate their ever-decreasing circle of cohorts.
