About the event

PERTH SATELLITE EVENT - 2024

THEME  - NEVER TOO LATE

TRANSFORMATION

As a mental health professional, Faith has heard all the perceived barriers from women in midlife who want their dream life, but think they have left it too late.

“I never followed my calling”. “I hate my job but need to pay the kids’ uni fees”. “I’m unhappily married but leaving is way too scary.” “My relationship with my mother is set in stone.” “I have to forget about romantic happiness. That ship has sailed.”

Miraculously, the third phase of life can be a remarkable and liberating opportunity to REINVENT!!!

  • Career/business/vocation - It's never too late to change our careers, start a new business or find our heart's calling
  • Relationship/Family/Identity - It's never too late to start a  relationship, find your family or become your true self
  • Trailblazers/Changemakers - It's never too late to impact your community, society, or the world.

SPEAKERS:

Dr Vanessa Atienza-Hipolito

Dr. Vanessa's speaking engagements reflect her commitment to physical well-being and women's

empowerment. She shares practical strategies, including her 9-step framework on self-leadership,

encompassing self-care, self-compassion, resilience, and overcoming difficulties. This aligns

seamlessly with her mission to save lives through advocating for preventative medicine and early

breast cancer detection at WBI.

Beyond her clinical and educational roles, Dr Vanessa is a triathlete, wife, mother, and a well-women's-

respected Breast Imaging Specialist. Her dedication extends to community and charity initiatives,

actively promoting diversity and inclusion in the healthcare industry.

Helen Mansfield

Helen Mansfield is a Perth-based Authorised Civil Celebrant. She thought about becoming a marriage celebrant many years ago but due to family and financial commitments, I had to put her dream on hold.

After a few years, I finally bit the bullet and committed myself to embark on something that I always wanted to do. To finalize my decision my daughter asked me to marry her so I embarked on this amazing journey. Helen met her birth mother in midlife and her Never Too Late story will blow your mind and warm your heart.

Dawn Mauldon

Dawn is the first-born hearing child of Deaf adults (a Coda). Growing up in post-war suburban Melbourne her family looked like almost everyone else until they started talking on their hands. Her first language was tactile, visual, physical, and theatrical, teaching her to be aware of details, accept differences, and inform her understanding of how stories are told. At a young age, she became the interpreter for her mother’s family, who never learned to sign. Her childhood was a constant crossing between languages and cultures as she witnessed people’s varying attitudes towards differences. The Deaf world gave her a strong sense of belonging, but her parents encouraged her to find her place in the hearing world. Later, she became a teacher of English, Literature, and Drama and moved to Perth, where she taught for many years in the West Australian school and prison systems. She aimed to challenge how voices of displacement, diversity, and personal histories influence expectations and outcomes.

Her place of belonging is North Fremantle where she has lived for the last thirty years. Stories have always been her purpose and passion. Dawn now spends her time writing about language and culture and discovering the silenced voices behind untold stories.
