SPEAKERS:

MC: Faith Agugu founder of Silver Sirens

Faith is a Sydney-based Psychotherapist who founded Silver Sirens in 2018 after a number of women in 'midlife crisis' were referred to her. She realised that her cultural lens on ageing differed greatly from those of many of her western sisters and she felt called to change the negative narrative some of these women had internalised about ageing.

Faith creates engaging and uplifting conversations that honour each women's individuality.

Sandy Davies

Long before formulating HappyPause™ Balm and becoming an author, Sandy  Davies was born and raised in the American Midwest in the state of Kansas. Sandy immigrated to Australia in the 1990s to do her master’s degree in social justice at the  University of New South Wales in Sydney as a Rotary Fellow and Ambassador of  Goodwill for Rotary International.

After graduate school, tourism beckoned. Sandy operated an adventure tourism business with her partner on World Heritage Listed Fraser Island for decades.  Later they semi-retired to the tropical idylls of Far North Queensland… or so they thought.

An allergic reaction to treatment for intimate dryness during perimenopause launched Sandy out of semi-retirement. She is now the Queensland-based formulator and founder of the award-winning HappyPause Balm. As a bit of a rebel who struggles to take ‘No’ for an answer, Sandy turned the lack of a simple, preservative-free natural solution for intimate dryness into her mission.

The creation of HappyPause is Sandy’s ‘Yes.’ A tiny pearl of HappyPause puts a spring back in your step. Dryness caused by peri/post menopause,  chemotherapy, radiation, endometriosis, Type 1 Diabetes, endurance training, and other issues should never be a death knell to doing the active things we love, which is why creating HappyPause has brought Sandy so much joy in her second spring. If you’ve stopped swimming, gardening, or doing the things you love, HappyPause will help you return.

In every chapter of her life, Sandy has thrived on giving back as a part of her ethos. In this HappyPause era, Sandy’s Australian Pay It Forward partner is The  Period Project. The Period Project is an arm of the National Homeless Collective coordinated by former Victorian Australian of the Year Donna Stolzenberg. To learn  more about Donna’s tireless work or make a donation to help eradicate period poverty  visit www.nhcollective.org.au

When not packaging and processing HappyPause orders and heightening menopause awareness, Sandy enjoys writing and spending time with her husband and their rescue dog Karma along the fringing reef. Her book The Power to Rise Above about resilience and teenage bullying will be available in 2023.
