" Planning a trip is not just about the destination, but the journey of anticipation and discovery that revitalises the soul, sparking joy and enriching our lives long before we even depart."

As a firm believer in the importance of planning and booking holidays in advance, I've personally experienced the significant impact it has on my mental well-being. By planning my next trip shortly after returning from the last, I've found that it not only keeps me motivated but also offers numerous benefits for my mental health.

Firstly, having a trip booked provides something to look forward to, especially during stressful periods. This anticipation generates positive emotions, such as excitement and happiness, which can help counteract feelings of fatigue and burnout. In my own life, I woke up last week feeling drained and overwhelmed, and immediately sat down to clear out a day to put down tools. Simply knowing a break is on the horizon has provided immediate relief and gave me an instant energy uplift.

Additionally, planning a trip or adventure gives me ample opportunity to budget and prepare, thereby alleviating potential financial stress. This sense of control and organisation can further contribute to improved mental health. Moreover, taking the time to research destinations and activities can stimulate creativity and curiosity, promoting overall cognitive well-being.

This month's focus on travel and adventure has proven exhilarating, as hearing about others' journeys and organising upcoming retreats has instilled a strong sense of anticipation and joy. Although the Elderhood Retreat to Africa is over a year away, the act of planning and anticipating the event has already begun to yield mental health benefits for me.

Prioritising and scheduling trips in advance, even if the trip is a long way off, can have a profound impact on mental well-being, strengthening resilience, happiness, and fostering a more positive outlook on life. So go ahead and book that next trip – your mind will thank you for it!

As we transition into August, we will be focusing on the transformative journey of Divorce and Reinvention. This poignant topic holds a special place in our hearts, as our organisation's very foundation was built upon supporting women navigating life after divorce. We'll be exploring a range of topics, from coping with the emotional turmoil of divorce to embracing new opportunities for personal growth and self-discovery. We believe that every woman has the potential to emerge from any transformative period stronger, more confident, and ready to embrace the next chapter of her life.
